Our History and Mission

The New Hampshire Police Association Pipes and Drums was established after the line-of-duty death of New Hampshire State Police Sgt. James Noyes in October 1994. Moved by the Boston Police Gaelic Column’s performance at his funeral, members of the law enforcement community began seeking interested musicians to form a New Hampshire–based police pipes and drums band. By December 1994, dedicated officers from departments across the state gathered for their first practice, and after two years of training, the band proudly made its official debut at the New Hampshire Police Memorial in Concord.

The band’s primary mission is to honor New Hampshire’s fallen law enforcement officers by providing musical accompaniment at funeral and memorial services. Its secondary mission is to celebrate the achievements of active and retired law enforcement officers, veterans, and service members by performing at promotional ceremonies, Honor Flight departures, academy graduations, retirements, and charitable events.

Since its founding, the band has grown to more than thirty members representing over a dozen New Hampshire law enforcement and affiliated agencies. We are proud to volunteer our time and talents to support and honor our law enforcement community in moments of both sorrow and celebration.
